Series Premise: Difficult circumstances do not have to steal your joy or stall your faith.
How big is your God? This is the question that Colossians is addressing, telling us that the whole world, everything from creation to salvation, is found in the bigness of Jesus. Difficult circumstances often tempt us to take our eyes off Jesus’ bigness, and place them on our problems or our emotions. When we see what is really true, we can be able to live as new people. What does this look like? We talked about this in our small groups from chapters 3 & 4.
Scripture: Colossians 1:15 – 23
Other Key Verses in Colossians: 1:9-14 // 1:15-20 // 2:6-7 // 3:1-3 // 3:12-14 // 4:2-6
Parent Connection
Has your idea of Jesus grown beyond someone who lives in our hearts? How do you view the size of Jesus, especially in relation to your problems?
What picture does Paul give in 3:12-14 of someone who lives out of being “in Christ”? How do you think your character matches up to these traits?
Read 4:3-6 Who is one person right now that you are praying for an open door so that you can be a witness to them? Are you making the best use of your time to be on mission to outsiders?
Our family is renacotilg from VT to PA. If we would decide to become a member of your church at some point, would we need to show a record of having been baptized by immersion. We have record of our son, but my husband and I never received one. I want to be sure to get that before we move if we will need it. Thank you.
